New mental health research program seeks young volunteers

Updated: Jul 12, 2022

A new research program made possible by generous community support through the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation looks to break new ground in child and adolescent mental health care by generating data that will be used to develop, test and refine interventions for kids experiencing mental health concerns. Mental Health Research 4 Kids invites young people who are 18 years old or younger to participate in child and adolescent mental health studies led by researchers at the University of Calgary and the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute. Parents and young people will have the opportunity to pick and choose which research study or studies they would like to participate in. Some studies will be designed to develop new treatments, others could help scientists better understand brain function, and who is at risk for mental health concerns.
